2007 activities
Overclock competition
Rules and basis
- Tests and measurements will have to be done during the Euskal Encounter
15, and so that this point can be verified a screen background will be placed
on the website and participants will have to use it when catching their
test results. Computers not fulfilling this condition will be automatically
eliminated.
- The cooling systems accepted will be air working, liquid cooling or by
peltier cells. Outer cooling systems such as nitrogen, dry ice or phase
change won’t be admitted.
- Tests to be performed will consist of a go on superpi 1M, another one
on 3Dmark2006 and a temperature measurement after 5 minutes using Orthos
and another one using idle.
As you can see we want the overall performance of our computer to be rated
in this competition: processing unit, storage, graphic power and cooling.
- The software used for test must be downloaded on these links so that
we all work with the same program versions.
Tests will be marked as follows:
- 3Dmark 2006 the obtained score will be taken into account.
- SuperPi 1M, scores will be adjusted to 10.000 to equal it to 3Dmark, i.e.,
if your result is 15,843s, your score will be 10.000 – 1584,30 = 8415,70
therefore the less time it takes to calculate a SuperPI 1M, the higher
your score will be.
- Orthos, screenshot will be caught after 5 minutes performing Orthos and
again with idle. The delta between temperatures will be taken into account.
If your plate can’t read the correct temperature let us know in your
inscription e-mail altogether with the screenshots so that should temperature
be determinant for the best 10 results selection a jury member will be able
to go round to your place and make a sound measurement.
Temperature results will be adjusted
according to this table:

- The final result will be got by adding the score obtained on every test.
The jury will do a first selection to get the best 10 scores. Once the selected
people have been informed, they will have 2 hours to get their machines
ready, for a second round will be played and tests will have to be passed
in the presence of jury members. This will be the valid score for the final
classification. If any participant is not able to perform this last test
using the same hardware as before due to technical problems, they will be
eliminated and the following participant will take their place.
- Every participant will have to use their own material, i.e., pieces can’t
be exchanged among competitors.
- Tweked operating systems are allowed.
Inscription will be made by sending
an e-mail to eneko@euskal.org, in which
the following data will be “necessarily” available:
- Issue : Overclock
- First name and surname
- Nick ( if available)
- E-Mail address
- Place
- Conputer configuration Ej. C2D E6300 1.82@3.12Ghz 1.26V 4-4-4-12 2.2V
333@443
- Used graphics Ej. XFX7800GT GPU:566@760 RAM:600@750
- Screenshots:
- 3Dmark. The 3Dmark screen will appear altogether with the final results
and details as well as a CPUZ showing FSB speed and another one showing
storage configuration.
- SuperPi 1M. The final result and the checksum will appear and also
visible times. As in the previous test two CPUZ sentences will be shown
with speed and storage configuration.
- A screenshot on Idle containing two CPUZ sentences and a temperature
monitorization program like speenfan.
- A screenshot with Orthos in full “stress CPU” performance
of at least 5 minutes and as in previous tests, two CPUZ sentences and
a temperature monitorization program. As it has already been said,
should there be any problems with temperature measurements let us know
on the inscription e-mail so that organisers can go round to your place
and take a sound temperature if needed
Bear in mind that as it has already
been said, all these shots must have the screen background provided by organisers
which can be downloaded HERE. Should you not fulfill this requirement you
will be out of the competition for we won’t be able to verify your results
were achieved while Euskal Encounter 15 was running.
